NEW SATELLITE PARTNERSHIP LAUNCHED IN PNG
Remington Technologies and Orion Satellite Systems launched a new partnership for the provision of satellite based communication services to PNG at an event at the Ela Beach Hotel last night.
Mr Andrew Johnson, the Chief Executive of Orion said that with deregulation just around the corner, Orion had been seeking a business partner to launch the range of Hughes Network Systems satellite products in PNG supported by its satellite hubs with access on a number of satellites in the region. He stated “Remington Technologies with a national branch office network and technically skilled Sales and Support staff is the ideal partner for us in a region which we see is very important for us due to the fact that satellite provides a very cost effective communications solution for much of the country. Together with the Hughes product family, which holds a dominant position in the world market, Remington’s in country base and Orion’s communications engineering capability and depth of experience in the field, we believe the Partnership will bring important benefits to PNG”.
Orion is a major provider in Australia and regional countries of state of the art hardware and low cost operational plans. Over the years it has specialized in remote sites with the mining industry being the principal early customer group. Today it covers most industries and customer types from grocery chains to the RPNGC.
The Partnership is planned to move over time beyond satellite systems to cover other product types and become a reseller of a broader range of communication solutions. It sees Telikom, with its strong engineering base and steadily improving national infrastructure, having an excellent future providing wholesaled services (along with its own retailed capability) with groups like the Remington/Orion Partnership providing valuable channels to the national market.
Mr Ken Harvey, CEO of Remington Technology, welcomed the new arrangements saying that with Orion it had created a partnership that could provide a steadily increasing range of cost effective and reliable communication services to the people of PNG and allow Remington to continue on its successful diversification path.
